MRPC Delegation Undertakes a Benchmarking Visit to International Crisis Group Africa Regional Office in Nairobi

On 15 September 2026, a delegation from Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC), led by the CEO,Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage, PhD, EBS, was hosted by Mr. Murithi Mutiga, the Africa Program Director at the International Crisis Group (ICG) Africa Regional Offices in Nairobi Kenya, for a strategic consultative meeting.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in evidence-based research and early action interventions, particularly in the areas of conflict prevention and shaping of policies that build a more peaceful world. They also explored prospects for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ICG and MRPC.

In his remarks, Dr. Kabage reaffirmed MRPC’s commitment to working closely with the ICG team to strengthen consortium partnerships and harness the contributions of think tanks to advance regional peace, electoral governance, maritime security, and early warning mechanisms across Greater Eastern Africa.

Also in attendance were ICG Senior Analysts and Officials, including Mr. Magnus Taylor, Deputy Director for the Horn of Africa, Mr. Daniel Akech, Senior Analyst for South Sudan; Joseph Tucker, Senior Analyst for Sudan, Onesphore Sematumba, Senior Analyst for DRC and Meron Elias, Analyst for East Africa.

Representing MRPC alongside Dr. Kabage were Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD, Deputy CEO and Director of Research and Programmes, and Grace Musolo, the Executive assistant.
