On 9th April 2025, the National Defence College hosted a seminar on Disinformation Campaigns in Africa, bringing together participants from the National Defence College, Kenyan think tanks, and Charles University from the Czech Republic. Mashariki Research and Policy Centre was represented by our Research Fellow, Felistus Kandia, who contributed to insightful discussions on the drivers, emerging trends, and responses to disinformation within Kenya and across Africa.
The seminar drew attention to the growing threat of disinformation to democratic governance, social cohesion, and public trust particularly in an increasingly digital age shaped by AI, social media platforms, and encrypted communication channels.
