The Mashariki Research and Policy Centre, in collaboration with The East African Institute for Peace and Governance (EAIPG) is hosting the Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) training scheduled for April 7th-11th, 2025.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the Brig (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage, PhD Chief Executive Officer of MRPC followed by a speech Mr. Anwar Bashir, Director of EAIPG during the opening session. Also in attendance was Dr. Fatuma Ahmed Ali, Associate Professor of International Relations, from United States International University – Africa (USIU-A), Dr. Halkano Wario, PhD, Regional Organized Crime Observatory Coordinator – East Africa from Institute for Security Studies, Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD Director of Research, MRPC, Dr. John Mwangi, PhD, Ms. Felistus Kandia, Research Fellow, MRPC and MRPC Staff.
Dr. Kabage delivered a virtual presentation on Introduction to Key Concepts of Violent Extremism and Terrorism while Mr. Anwar gave a presentation on Contextual and Emerging Drivers of Violent Extremism in Horn of Africa respectively, both addressing participants from think tanks, government sectors, and academia.
