The Inaugural Launch of The Mashariki Security Journal on Thursday, 27th February 2025, at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya

The Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) proudly hosted the inaugural launch of the Mashariki Security Journal on Thursday, 27th February 2025, at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya. Themed “Peace and Security in Eastern Africa: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects,” the event featured opening remarks by Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage, PhD, EBS, Chief Executive Officer of MRPC, a keynote address by IG (Rtd) Mr. Joseph Boinnet, MGH, ‘nsc’ (AU), Deputy National Security Advisor to the President of Kenya, and insights from Dr. Ruth Kagia, MBS, CBS, MRPC Board Member, and Mr. Arthur A. Olanda, Director of the Peace and Security Division at Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. The event concluded with virtual closing remarks from Washington, D.C., by Amb. David Gacheru.

The launch featured interactive discussions on pressing security and governance issues, including state fragility, transnational threats, election management, environmental degradation, political economy, and identity challenges, reinforcing MRPC’s commitment to fostering informed policy discourse in the region.
