On 16th March 2026, Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) provided expert support at the 31st Regional Senior Mission Leaders’ (RSML) Course hosted by the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi. The course is designed to strengthen leadership within the African Standby Force in relation to Peace Support Operations (PSO), an initiative anchored under the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA).

MRPC CEO, Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage, delivered two presentations on “Understanding African Union PSO” and “The Role of Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) in PSO,” respectively.

The course convened participants from military, police, and civilian institutions across the region, with a focus on strengthening their capacity in PSO leadership.

Through this contribution, MRPC reinforced its role as a regional security foresight institution, advancing policy-relevant insights to support effective PSOs.
