From October 1–3, 2025, Agnes Maina, Lead Researcher on Geopolitical Shifts at Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC), joined policymakers, scholars, and practitioners at the 3rd Annual International Relations Society of Kenya(IRSK) Conference at the Best Western Premier Hotel, Nairobi.

Held under the theme “Enhancing COMESA’s Strategic Positioning and Resilience in the Evolving Global Order,” the forum explored Africa’s role in shaping regional and global dynamics. Discussions addressed regional integration and trade, peace and security, 30 years of COMESA, and advancing inclusive diplomacy through initiatives such as AWIDA and the Young Diplomats Fellowship.

MRPC’s participation underscores the Centre’s commitment to advancing African-led diplomacy and strengthening policy responses to emerging geopolitical and security challenges in Eastern Africa.
