
On 14 March 2026, Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) participated in the official handing-over ceremony of the outgoing National Security Advisor and Secretary of the National Security Council, Amb. Dr. Monica Juma (Oxon), EGH as she assumes her new role as Executive Director – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director-General- United Nations Office at Vienna.
The MRPC delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer, Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage, alongside Director of Research and Programmes, Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD. In recognition of Amb. Juma’s distinguished leadership in advancing peace, security, governance, and international cooperation, Dr. Kabage presented an appreciation plaque on behalf of the institution.
The transition event, themed “Handing Over the Baton,” was convened by the Executive Office of the President—Office of the National Security Advisor in partnership with the University of Nairobi at Chandaria Hall, bringing together the diplomatic corps, senior scholars, and cross-sector practitioners.
The event framed around “The Role of the National Security Advisor within the National Security Architecture in Kenya,” provided a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, coordinated governance, foresight, and multi-stakeholder collaboration in advancing national resilience and regional stability.
MRPC reaffirms its commitment to fostering regional and global partnerships that advance security innovation, particularly in response to evolving geopolitical shifts, conflict dynamics, and climate security challenges.
