MRPC Hosts NCIC Leadership to Strengthen Joint Electoral Peace and Cohesion Agenda

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) paid a courtesy visit to Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) at the Centre’s offices in Nairobi on 18 February 2026, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing peace and social cohesion ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Elections.

The NCIC delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Daniel Giti, and Director of Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, Mr. Liban Guyo. They were hosted for the meeting by MRPC CEO Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage and Director of Research and Programmes Dr. Solomon Njenga.

The engagement focused on advancing the implementation of a joint peace and social cohesion framework aimed at strengthening prevention, mitigation, and response mechanisms to electoral-related conflict. Building on their formal partnership established in August 2025, the discussions outlined a forward-looking roadmap for coordinated research, early warning, and institutional collaboration with like-minded partners.

The visit underscored the complementary roles of both institutions: NCIC’s strength in legal cohesion frameworks and community-based peacebuilding, and MRPC’s contribution through security foresight, policy research, and data-driven risk analysis to support anticipatory electoral stability.
