On 28 May 2026, Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) held a strategic consultative meeting with Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs at the Ministry’s headquarters in Nairobi.
Discussions focused on exploring long-term collaboration between the two institutions, with emphasis on research and policy engagement relating to geopolitical, peace and security issues affecting Greater Eastern Africa.
The meeting was convened by Mr. Mustafa Ibrahim, Deputy Director General and Head of the Policy, Research and Strategic Analysis Directorate at the Ministry. He was accompanied by Mr. Arthur Olanda, Director of the Peace and Security Division, alongside other Ministry officials. The MRPC delegation was led by Dr. Solomon Njenga, Director of Research and Programmes at the Centre.
During the discussions, both institutions noted the strong alignment between MRPC’s work on geopolitical shifts, conflict trends, and environmental security across Greater Eastern Africa and the Ministry’s diplomatic and foreign policy priorities within the region.
The two institutions agreed to begin collaboration in areas such as policy research, strategic dialogue, and advisory engagement, with a view towards establishing a formal partnership framework that will deepen cooperation between them.
The engagement reflects MRPC’s continued commitment to advancing strategic research and evidence-based policy analysis that supports regional stability and Kenya’s broader international interests.
