
Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) participated in the official launch of the African Centre for the Study of Russia in Nairobi, Kenya, on 25 February 2026. The high-level forum was jointly hosted by the University of Nairobi and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kenya.
The launch convened members of the diplomatic corps, academia, and policy practitioners to deliberate on advancing Russia-Africa relations through strengthened strategic collaboration. Discussions were anchored on leveraging emerging opportunities, mitigating geopolitical and economic risks, and fostering asymmetrical balance in international engagement. A key highlight of the dialogue was the significance of digitalization as an emerging frontier shaping Russia-Africa bilateral cooperation frameworks.
The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Vsevolod Tkachenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kenya. MRPC was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Brig. (Rtd) Dr. Robert Kabage, whose participation reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to advancing strategic foresight, policy research, and informed dialogue on the evolving dynamics of Russia-Africa engagement.
