On 31 August 2026, the Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) held an introductory consultative meeting at its premises with Ms. Alexandra Steinkraus, Adelphi’s Climate Diplomacy and Security Advisor, to explore and strengthen strategic collaboration between MRPC and Adelphi.

The meeting explored potential areas of collaboration to strengthen evidence-based research, advance peace–climate analysis, facilitate joint capacity-building and training initiatives, and develop policy advisories addressing emerging climate, peace, and security challenges. Both institutions expressed their commitment to advancing the newly established partnership through practical regional and global solutions, with a particular focus on strengthening early action mechanisms in Africa and addressing the growing risks posed by climate change.

As the international community prepares for COP31, scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, in November 2026, MRPC will continue to champion policy dialogues, explore avenues for climate financing, and strengthen collaboration with like-minded institutions such as Adelphi to address emerging and interconnected climate, peace, and security challenges.

The consultative meeting was chaired by Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD, Director of Research and Programmes at MRPC, and attended by Sammy Kwinga, Director of Finance and Administration, and Alfred Eket, Research Fellow.
