Mashariki Research & Policy Centre was pleased to participate in the African Union Commission (AUC) Coordination Meeting with Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) on the implementation of the Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security (CFYPS), held in Gaborone, Botswana, from 28–29 July 2026.

The meeting provided an important platform to strengthen coordination between the African Union, RECs, Regional Mechanisms, African Youth Ambassadors for Peace (AYAPs), WiseYouth, development partners and civil society, fostering a more coherent and effective approach to advancing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda across the continent.

MRPC was represented by Agnes Maina, Research Fellow, who served as the meeting Rapporteur, synthesizing the key outcomes, recommendations and agreed actions that will help inform the implementation of the CFYPS and its 10-Year Implementation Plan, including the forthcoming Mid-Term Assessment. The centre remains committed to supporting evidence-based policy dialogue and strategic foresight that strengthens peace, security and youth leadership across Greater Eastern Africa and the continent at large.
