MRPC Advances Strategic Regional Foresight at Horn of Africa Security Dialogue 2026

Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) participated in the high-level Horn of Africa Security Dialogue 2026, held on 12–13 March 2026 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi. The event, themed “Navigating Regional Resilience and Security in Africa in an Era of Declining International Aid,” was co-hosted by the HORN International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung through its Regional Programme Security Dialogue for East Africa.

The two-day forum convened prominent speakers drawn from security institutions, policymaking bodies, the diplomatic corps, and academia to deliberate on emerging regional security dynamics. MRPC’s Director of Research and Programmes, Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD represented the Centre and delivered key insights grounded in scenario analysis and strategic policy frameworks, highlighting the importance of anticipatory governance to sustain regional peace and security initiatives.

The dialogue was graced by Amb. Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, PhD.,EBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Kenya Foreign Affairs, who delivered the keynote address.

Discussions focused on the structural and operational challenges arising from declining international aid, particularly its implications for peacekeeping missions, humanitarian operations, and regional security governance across the Horn of Africa and the African Great Lakes region.

During the dialogue, MRPC reaffirmed its role as a regional security foresight centre, contributing perspectives on strengthening institutional resilience and advancing policy recommendations that support African-led funding models for peace support operations in Greater Eastern Africa.
