The Mashariki Research and Policy Centre attended the International Conference on “The Role of BRICS in shaping a Multipolar World” themed Bridging Continents: Strengthening BRICS Engagement in Africa through Socio-Cultural, Economic and Commercial Cooperation. The event was held on 7th May co-hosted by the University of Nairobi and RUDN University in Kenya. The MRPC delegation led by Brig (Rtd) Dr. R G Kabage, CEO, met on the sidelines of the conference with H.E. The team also gained insights on various ways in which nations in the BRICS group can represent developing countries that are often marginalized in economic, political, and development affairs. The conversation focused on how the BRICS can promote innovation in addressing issues such as political instability, health (including through innovative local pharmaceutical plants), learning exchange of sustainable technology in tackling climate change, socio-cultural exchange to strengthen diplomacy, and the role of education and academia in connecting Africa globally.
