Theme: Military Missions in African Peacemaking: Adapting to A Changed World
The two-day roundtable will be co-convened by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC), located in Karen, Kenya. It seeks to deepen the policy conversation with policymakers and practitioners from West Africa and the Sahel, with the aim of defining a set of minimal criteria for legitimate and effective military interventions in support of lasting peace and security in a changing global order.
This policy roundtable will host approximately 20 policymakers and practitioners, including representatives of regional mechanisms and the African Union, defence and security officials from conflict-affected and troop-contributing African countries, as well as researchers and policy experts.
