On 13 October 2026, Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) participated in the Australia Awards Africa Short Course on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism in Africa, held at Pan Pacific Suites, Global Trade Centre, Nairobi.

Representing MRPC, Dr. Solomon Njenga, Deputy CEO and Director of Research and Programmes, joined a panel examining global and African regional counterterrorism policy frameworks.

The discussion examined the roles of the United Nations, African Union and regional economic communities, highlighting the importance of translating policy frameworks into coordinated, context-responsive action.

MRPC underscores the need to bridge policy and implementation through stronger regional cooperation, evidence-informed threat assessment and locally grounded responses that address evolving security threats across Greater Eastern Africa.
