On 12–13 October 2026, Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) participated in the validation workshop of the IGAD Common Regional Framework on Climate, Peace and Security (CRF-CPS), organised by ICPAC in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Life & Peace Institute (LPI) in Ngong, Kenya.
Representing MRPC, Dr. Solomon Njenga, Deputy CEO and Director of Research and Programmes, joined regional stakeholders and technical partners in reviewing the draft framework, consolidating recommendations and identifying revisions ahead of finalisation.
The framework seeks to strengthen regional policy coherence, institutional coordination and collective responses to climate-related security risks across the Horn of Africa.
MRPC recognises that a common regional framework is essential to translating shared priorities into coordinated preventive action, strengthening resilience and advancing sustainable peace.
