
On 2nd September 2026, the Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) convened a strategic introductory consultative meeting with Geomine Consulting Group LTD at the MRPC premises to explore collaborative pathways toward strengthening regional mining governance.
The consultative meeting was chaired by Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD, Director of Research and Programmes at MRPC and co-led by Eng Cyrus Njonde, Director, Geomine Consulting Group Ltd with representatives from both intuitions engaging on strategic synergies across the extractive sector.
The meeting explored potential areas of collaboration focused on strengthening mining governance, advancing policy analysis on structural mining challenges, leveraging evidence-backed data to support early interventions, and developing actionable strategies to de-risk strategic investments and mitigate emerging operational, environmental, and social risks associated with mining activities.
MRPC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing evidence-based research that fosters responsible extraction, enhances regional security, and promotes sustainable policy frameworks throughout Greater Eastern Africa. Both institutions look forward to deepening their engagement to build a resilient mining ecosystem.
