On March 11th 2026, Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC) delivered a comprehensive presentation on Maritime and Economic Governance at the Annual Diplomatic Day forum hosted by Daystar University in Nairobi.

The key note address was delivered by H.E. Witjaksono Adji, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kenya. Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD, MRPC’s Director of Research and Programmes, participated as an expert panellist. He pointed out the maritime security threats across the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region and further shared strategic regional approaches critical for sustainable ocean governance.

The discussions centred around blue economy nexus to economic diplomacy, implications of regional coordinated mechanisms and technology adoption on maritime security, and the strengthening of governance frameworks alongside multilateral engagements in Kenya that result in strategic positioning in the region.
