On 10 February 2026, Brig. (Rtd) Dr Robert Kabage, CEO of Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC), held a high-level consultative meeting with Commissioner Mr. John Kioli, Executive Director of the Green Africa Foundation (GAF), and Ms Elizabeth Wanja, Coordinator of the Kenya Climate Change Working Group (KCCWG), together with their respective senior management teams.

Discussions centred on the Climate Change-Peace-Security nexus, drawing on MRPC’s foresight-driven environmental security approach as well as GAF’s and KCCWG’s leadership in green initiatives and remarkable community-based climate engagement. The meeting underscored the importance of coordinated action to strengthen climate adaptation, climate financing, and institutional capacity across Kenya’s counties.

MRPC reaffirmed its readiness to work with both institutions to advance environmental security within Kenya and across the 16 countries in the Greater Eastern Africa region, leveraging its policy-oriented framework to address and mitigate environmental threats to peace and security.
