From 27–28 October 2025, Dr. Solomon Njenga, PhD, Director of Research and Policy at the Mashariki Research and Policy Centre (MRPC), delivered a foresight-driven keynote address at the 2025 International Conference on Water, Peace and Security, themed “Water as a Catalyst for Peace and Cooperation.”
The event, which was hosted at the Emara Ole Sereni Hotel – Conference Centre in Nairobi, was co-organized by International Alert, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre, and the Finnish Water Way for Peace: Water Diplomacy Platform. It was graced by H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo – Former President of Ghana, and other eminent speakers from foreign ministries, regional organizations, development agencies and youth groups.
Discussions centred on dynamic themes related to water security cooperation, peace and water innovation models, and climate change. MRPC’s participation in this high-level conference underscores the Centre’s strong commitment to promoting environmental security and cooperation across Eastern Africa.
